Bogeyman warning from the Broadway show "Three Twins," (1908), music by Karl Hoschna ("Cuddle Up A Little Closer"), lyrics by Collin Davis. First performed in clown suit & pointed hat by vaudevillian Bessie McCoy, later by Irene (Foote) Castle, re-enacted by Ginger Rogers in the Astaire-Rogers biopic, "The Story Of Vernon and Irene Castle"(1939).
